Hi! I’m Katie, an architect by training, a lifelong stationery lover, and the creator of Katiebird Prints.

I’ve enjoyed drawing and making things for as long as I can remember. Inventing my own Pokémon, making mansions in the Sims, and so many Klutz craft kits influenced my decision to attend architecture school—a nice mix of creativity and practicality. After graduating in 2016 with a Masters in Architecture from the University of Kansas, I moved to Chicago to begin my career. While architecture channels my creative side through problem-solving, structure, and order (and the frequent spreadsheet), I missed the freedom of unfiltered, creative expression. With the encouragement of friends and colleagues after posting a few of my illustrations online, I launched Katiebird Prints—a playful return to my roots and a space where I could combine my love of design, dry humor, and pop culture.

What started as a small Etsy shop in 2020, quickly grew into a stationery brand with over 4,500 sales and counting. In 2022, I made the move to New York City, where I am still a practicing architect. The daily chaos of New Yorkers inspires me constantly, and it shows up in my work through quirky bookmarks, laugh-out-loud greeting cards, and dreamy stationery sets.After getting settled in the city, I launched my own website in 2023, and in 2025, I began taking wholesale orders to bring laughs and cute stationery to a wider audience. Everything I make is still designed and handcrafted in NYC and created to bring a little joy to the everyday.
